Morning Sun

Morning Sun is a12x12x 2 inch mixed media painting on canvas.

This little Goldfinch is basking in the morning sun as it warms her wings and reminds her that every day is a gift.  Like the goldfinch, the flowers, too, in the garden soak of the sun and the promise of a new day to grow and share their beauty with the world.  

Flowers include sunflowers, daisies and peonies in a gold/violet color combination. 

The mixed media layers of this painting are a bit special as they include hand-printed monotypes of several of the flowers included in the piece -- one was even printed on the pink paper that originally wrapped the bouquet! Other mixed media elements include pages from a French romance novel, handmade Nepalese paper and other snippets of papers from my travels.  

Signed & titled on reverse and fitted with wire to hang on the wall without a frame.
