Goddess of Inspiration
Goddess of Inspiration is a 16 x 20 x3/4 inches mixed media painting on cradled wood panel. Fitted with wire and hangs on the wall exactly like a stretched canvas.
Clothed in the freedom and energy of her creativity and set in what I consider a newly discovered "magical" color palette of muted greens and florals, this goddess is turning toward the future with a gleam in her eye and a butterfly of transformation in her hair. Above her head you can see the faint words "The Real Princess" through the background -- this is a page from a book of fairy tales and part of the underpainted collage.
Mixed media elements in the goddess's dress include: pieces of abstract mini-paintings as well as mementos from many trips that have inspired me over the past few years including a bookmark from India and wrapping paper from Paris. There are also pages from a French romance novel, pages from a book of fairy tales and other collage papers.
Signed, titled and fitted with wire to hang on the wall without a frame. Sides are painted in the same gray-green as background.
