"A Summer Place"

"A Summer Place" is a 12x12x1.5 Mixed Media Painting on canvas.

 This painting was inspired by the hit 1962 song 'Theme from A Summer Place,' and it is part of my "Vintage Vinyl" series of pieces inspired by hit songs from 1940-1980. The soothing, natural colors evoke the calmness of a summer afternoon.  A sweet hummingbird kisses a peony hello, while a little butterfly nestles in the grasses of a summer meadow of zinnias, marigolds and daisies. 

Mixed media elements include, pages from a French romance novel,  Nepalese handmade paper  - including one that has real grass embedded in it! -- and other collage papers. Signed, titled and wired on reverse for easy hanging without a frame. Sides are painting in warm gray to match the summer, peaceful vibe.
