"Kissed by a Rose"
Kissed by a Rose is a 12x12 x 2 inch original mixed media painting on cradled wood panel. This painting is inspired by the 1995 song of the same title by Seal. Colors are pinks, lavenders, blues, black, gold and a pop of peach. Before painting each song, I close my eyes and listen to the music. Usually an image emerges that inspires me, and I try to capture it in paint. For this piece, the image came to mind immediately - and I envisioned a blooming pink rose surrounded by black flowers and being "kissed" by a hummingbird. Mixed media include: sheet music from the song, tissue paper, book pages, a touch of fiber paste and handmade Nepalese paper.
Signed & titled on reverse and fitted with wire to hang on the wall without a frame.
Here are some of the lyrics from Seal's beautiful song:
Ooh, the more I get of you, the stranger it feels, yeah
Now that your rose is in bloom
A light hits the gloom on the gray
