Eye of the Tiger is a 12x12 x 1.75 inch original mixed media painting on canvas. This painting is inspired by the 1982 song of the same title by Survivor. It features a blue-eyed tiger in a jungle landscape. He is fierce and embodies the spirit of this uplifting hit otherwise known as "the Rocky song." The painting includes lyrics and sheet music from the song, and you can see them peeking through the paint and bits of collage paper. I listened to the song while painting embodied its upbeat energy in my brush strokes (did a lot of dancing!). This painting was featured in the January issue of The Turquoise Iris magazine. (sides are painted black to match the piece)
Some of the lyrics:
Rising up straight to the top
Had the guts, got the glory
Went the distance, now I'm not going to stop
Just a man and his will to survive
Had the guts, got the glory
Went the distance, now I'm not going to stop
Just a man and his will to survive
It's the eye of the tiger
It's the thrill of the fight
Rising up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor
Stalks his prey in the night
And he's watching us all with the eye of the tiger
The eye of the tiger
It's the thrill of the fight
Rising up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor
Stalks his prey in the night
And he's watching us all with the eye of the tiger
The eye of the tiger
