Together We Rise

"Together We Rise" is a 12x12x1.5" Mixed Media Painting on deep-cradled canvas.

Together we Rise is part of my ongoing, 'Sweet Messages' series. I painted this piece while snowed in in sub-zero temperatures, so I made the colors radiate heat with warm pinks, oranges and magentas. Two songbirds revel in a peony field with one perched on top of a lotus-like bloom. The quote in the top right reads:

Just like the lotus flower, we too have the ability to rise from the mud, bloom out of the darkness & radiate into the world. 

Mixed media elements include handmade monoprints, sheet music, handmade Nepalese paper, and old book pages.  The sides are painted in peach and the back is fitted with hardware to hang without a frame. Signed and titled on reverse.
