Little Darling

Little Darling  is an 11 x 14 x 2  inch mixed media painting on canvas. I painted this piece while thinking of my two children and surrounded by the energy of creativity from the wonderful artists gathered during our recent "Joyful Blooms" retreat in Asheville.  The quote embedded behind the peony is from the Pulitzer prize winning author, poet, and theologian, Frederick Buechner: “One life on this earth is all we get, whether it is enough or not enough, and the obvious conclusion would seem to be at the very least we are fools if we do not live it as fully and bravely and beautifully as we can." The painting is also inspired by the Velveteen Rabbit and his quest to become "Real." Both are reflections on creativity, bravery and what it means to live a full life. 

Flowers include a sunflower, peony and scattered daisies.

Mixed media elements include pages from a book of love notes, handmade Nepalese paper and other snippets of papers from my travels.  

 Signed & titled on reverse and fitted with wire to hang on the wall without a frame.
