My Pilgrim Soul
"My Pilgrim Soul" is a 9x12x.25 inch mixed media painting on flat canvas board. This piece is part of my "Fairyland" series, painted while on site in Ireland. This was the first piece I painted after settling into our castle, and the story slowly painted itself with little bits of the background emerging as sky, wind and part of the fairy. The title is taken from a line in Irish poet William Butler Yeats's gorgeous poem, When You Are Old:
How many loved your moments of glad grace/ And loved your beauty with love false or true,/ But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you
This is a mixed media collage, built up by layering bright acrylic paint, bits of paper from my collection -- including handmade mono prints, a page from a fairy tale and glitter.
The painting is signed, and it is titled on reverse.
