"The Song She Holds" is a 24 x 24 x 1.5 inch mixed media acrylic painting on cradled canvas.

At 24x24 inches, this is one of my larger paintings. A young woman stands in a lush garden of roses, zinnias, and greenery, a robin resting in her hands and a butterfly in her hair.

Traditionally, robins symbolize joy, renewal, and the coming of spring.

And like, spring, the woman is on the verge awakening from a long winter as she realizes she holds a song, a truth, a spark and a voice that can be shared. She is every woman who is remembering her own light — and choosing to let it rise.

This painting is filled with layers and mixed media textures created from old book pages, handmade monoprints, tissue paper, wrapping paper and paper found in my travels. It is signed and titled on reverse and fitted with wire to hang without a frame. Sides are painted in peachy-orange to match the front. Roses symbolize true love!
