Where the Cricket Sings
"Where the Cricket Sings" is a 9x12x.25 inch mixed media painting on flat canvas board. This piece is part of my "Fairyland" series, painted while on site in Ireland. There were beautiful aster flowers in the gardens all around the castle where we stayed, and when you looked closely, you could see so much life in all the layers of lush greenery surrounding them! The title is taken from a line in Irish poet William Butler Yeats's poem, The Lake Isle of Innisfree:
And live alone in the bee-loud glade/ And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow, / Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings.
This is a mixed media collage, built up by layering bright acrylic paint, bits of paper from my collection -- including handmade mono prints, a page from a fairy tale and glitter.
The painting is signed, and it is titled on reverse.
