Regular price $165.00 $0.00

Fireflies is an 8x8x1 inch original mixed media painting on wood panel This painting is inspired by the 2010 top hit song of the same title by Owl City. This is an adorable song, and reminds me of a pop lullaby, so I included player piano music from the song 'Lullaby and Goodnight' to lull the baby bird to sleep as s/he counts fireflies.  Colors pinks, teals and neutrals. Mixed media include vintage player piano paper, tissue paper, handmade Nepalese paper and my own hand-painted papers.

Signed & titled on reverse and fitted with wire to hang on the wall without a frame.

Here is a sample of the lyrics:

You would not believe your eyes
If ten million fireflies
Lit up the world as I fell asleep
'Cause they'd fill the open air
And leave teardrops everywhere
You'd think me rude
But I would just stand and stare

I'd like to make myself believe
That planet Earth turns slowly
It's hard to say that I'd rather stay awake when I'm asleep
'Cause everything is never as it seems

'Cause I'd get a thousand hugs
From ten thousand lightning bugs
As they tried to teach me how to dance
A foxtrot above my head
A sock hop beneath my bed
A disco ball is just hanging by a thread
(Thread, thread...)
