"Mysterious Ways"
Mysterious Ways is a 12x12 x 1.75 inch original mixed media painting on canvas. This painting is inspired by the 1992 song of the same title by U2. Colors are inspired by moonrise at sunset. Before painting each song, I close my eyes and listen to the music. Usually an image emerges that inspires me, and I try to capture it in paint. For this piece, I immediately saw a gorgeous, majestic bird on the wing, flying past the moon. I wanted to embody the idea of a powerful female spirit, so I painted the Lilac Breasted Roller Bird with her wings fully extended. Flowers are daisies and poppies. Mixed media include: sheet music from the song, tissue paper, book pages and handmade Nepalese paper from my trip to India.
Signed & titled on reverse and fitted with wire to hang on the wall without a frame.
Here are some of the lyrics:
She moves in mysterious ways
It's all right, it's all right, it's all right
She moves in mysterious ways, oh
Let her talk about the things you can't explain
To touch is to heal, to hurt is to steal
If you want to kiss the sky, better learn how to kneel
On your knees, boy
