L'Amour Fou
L'Amour Fou- 9x12 x 1 inch mixed media painting on cradled canvas.
This painting was inspired by the idea that tiny, happy accidents can come together to create beauty if we let our hearts lead the way.
I ended up painting this piece as my son was playing piano (quite loudly!) in the background. At first, I was about to get up and tell him to play more quietly, but then I started to feel inspired by the joy that he was letting flow into the music. So I kept creating, too. And I allowed intuition to guide my way, building each bloom up and using only 3 hues of paint to hand-mix all of the colors in my bouquet.
The end result is a love letter to the creative process itself, and when I looked at a little scrap of french romance novel I had included in the background of the piece, I realized that it said 'beau l'amour' and that inspired the title!
Other mixed media elements include cut-out color blocks from my original palette and collage papers from my travels. The sides are painted in the same mint green as the front and the painting is signed and titled on reverse and wired for easy, frameless hanging on the wall.
