The Things I Love
The Things I love, a 12x12x2 inch mixed media painting on canvas, is inspired by the 1941 hit song by Tommy Dorsey. Some of the lyrics that were in my mind as I composed this piece are "A bed of tulips nodding in the breeze..." and "a robin's serenade when day is through...." "Darling I love you.... these are the things I love." And, of course, I included the flowers I love so much as well: zinnias, peonies and daisies as well as tulips (though I love ALL flowers!).
This is the 2nd painting in my 'Vintage Vinyl' series inspired by top songs from 1940-1980.
The mixed media layers of this painting include sheet music from the song, pages from a fairy tale, handmade mono printed papers, handmade Nepalese paper, a map and other snippets of papers from my travels.
Signed & titled on reverse and fitted with wire to hang on the wall without a frame. Sides are painted Payne's Gray.
